Kaila Ackman-Rishel, LCSW, LMFTc

Therapy is a hard process and I would like to thank you for letting me be part of your journey.  My aim is to offer a space of growth and hope while working through relational and sexual challenges.  As an open member of the LGBTQ+ community, I want to welcome all of my clients with compassion and authenticity.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as Women and Gender Studies with a minor in LGBTQ+ Studies at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Graduating Magna Cum Laude,  I knew I had a passion for relationships and sex therapy.

I moved to Denver and obtained my Master of Social Work at University of Denver with a concentration in family systems.  I earned my Marriage and Family Therapy Certification at Denver Family Institute, in which I worked with couples in the LGBTQ+ and poly communities.

Before opening my private practice in July of 2016, I worked with LGBTQ+ clients in non-profit settings.  Currently, I work with adolescents and families in a hospital setting regarding anxiety, depression, and body image.

I am a member of AASECT- American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (www.aasect.org), NASW- National Association of Social Work (www.socialworkers.org), and AAMFT- American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists(www.aamft.org).
